How to Read a Bet Slip
Every part of the bet slip explained — selections, stake, odds, and potential return — before you place your first bet.
What a bet slip actually shows
When you tap on an odds number, it's added to your bet slip — a running summary of every selection you've chosen. A single-bet slip has one selection; an accumulator slip has several, all needing to win for the bet to pay out.
The four parts of every selection
- Selection — what you're betting on (a team, an outcome, a market).
- Odds — the number that determines your payout if the selection wins.
- Stake — the amount you choose to bet.
- Potential return — stake × odds, calculated automatically as you type your stake.
A worked example
You select a team to win at odds of 2.00 and stake $10. Potential return = $10 × 2.00 = $20 (your $10 stake plus $10 profit). Add a second selection at odds of 1.50 to make it an accumulator, and the odds multiply: 2.00 × 1.50 = 3.00 total odds, so the same $10 stake now returns $30 — but only if both selections win.
Before you confirm
Odds can change right up until kickoff — the number you saw earlier isn't locked in until you actually place the bet. Double-check your stake and selections on the slip itself before confirming; it's the one moment to catch a mistake.
